Call us  Freedom Farm Animal Sanctuary

Volunteer

Welcome to the FFAS Volunteer page.  So you want to help our wonderful animals . . .  that’s great!!

Okay, let’s start by introducing you to our organization.

We are a 501 (c)(3) non-profit group dedicated to rescuing abused, abandoned and neglected animals in and around the Middle Tennessee area.  We encourage proper pet care and advocate the spaying and neutering of animals to help stop pet overpopulation.

We don’t have a “facility” in which to house animals.  All of the animals in our care live in private homes.  This is where our foster families come in.  Each dog or cat has the opportunity to learn how to live and interact with a family in a home environment.  It, in turn, allows us to learn more about each pet’s unique personality.

We bring our dogs to PetSmart (in Rivergate) every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.   Our precious cats and kittens stay at PetSmart and we rotate them on a regular basis from their foster homes.  This gives people a chance to “meet and greet” some of the fur-babies looking for their forever homes!

We have four (4) major “PetSmart Adoption Weekends” throughout the year.  They usually run from Friday until Sunday and both our cats and dogs participate in this event.  Sometimes we’ll even have a bake sale that weekend to help raise money for the care of our animals.

Every year, we participate in our annual Pet Celebration, held outdoors in the early fall.  There’s good food, fun, vendors, music and the occasional crazy costume contest.  It’s an opportunity for potential and past adopters to get together, catch up, meet new people and have a wonderful time.  It’s made even better when one of our fur-babies make the “love connection” with their forever family.

We are committed to finding all of our animals the forever home they deserve.  As a volunteer, you will have many chances to help our animals feel the comfort and love they desperately need.

The following are just some of the ways that you can contribute to the love and care of our babies:

  • Assist in cleaning the cat cages at PetSmart and socializing them
  • Assisting at adoption days on Saturdays with our dogs at PetSmart
  • Baking goodies for our bake sales at PetSmart
  • Participating at our annual Pet Celebration
  • Help in planning a new fund raising project
  • Foster a cat or dog in your home

However, we do have a few requirements for volunteering with us:
